Cape Town: Culture Coffee and Customs

I literally had the shakes, the kind that make you wonder if you're going to make it. At this point I had about four double-shot coffees on an empty stomach and was the opposite of drunk, I was so alert I could hear my beard growing in my helmet.

Earlier that day I had left the house with one mission... I'm sure you've guessed it
I jumped on my Triumph, and hit the city of Cape Town with a braaap!

My first stop, Detour Espresso Bar just outside Camps Bay on the Hout Bay side. First off, its a trailer on the side of the road, with probably the best view in Cape Town. A few scatter cushions and an umbrella, what a spot. Only runs from 7-11 am weekdays, but golden! Marck (the owner) must be one of the only guys I'm legitimately jealous of. Not only is location a clear winner, the coffee is great too. If I was a real coffee aficionado, I would have asked the bro: What's your brew bra?... but I didn't.

Back on the bike at this point moderately hitting the corners and making my next stop at:

The House of Machines 84 Shortmarket.
Pretty much my favourite place to grab a coffee in Cape Town; solid vibe, fantastic coffee, hipsters, a sweet array of THoM snapbacks.

Back on my bike, heart pumping in my head, I hit up Jason's Bakery at 33 Loop Street only because Los Muertos is next door. Los Muertos, is all about the bikes, from apparel to helmets, to lifestyle. Properly, one of the best setups around!

At this point I was pretty convinced my bike was riding itself as I entered into a state of being where everything had slowed down half a second. I had developed a nervous tick... I digress.

On to Woodstock Man Cave 7 Barron Street. As a motorcyclist who doesn't just ride, but lives the experience... this is it. You're welcomed as a guest and and paying member, girls are welcome too BTW, its a right party. I'm going to write a whole blog piece about this place and its mission. But all bikes all riders all sorts going on. Solid community of like-minded people, learning expensive lessons by working on scooters and cruisers alike. I think I lost a few hours  awkwardly staring at guys rebuilding their machines, and others stripping them apart. Also Wolfmoto are based at the cave... and there will be another post about that too!

I was starting to fade, and fast. With the drain of caffeine from my bloodstream I decided to call my journey quits. I said "rub-a-dub-dub" to the cave and I headed home for a coffee. I'm kidding, I watched Star Wars all night cause I couldn't sleep.
